Sophia Gimm
My name is Sophia Gimm, I’m 20 years old, and I’m majoring in English with an emphasis in creative writing. I am super interested in film and television, and I hope to be a screenwriter in the future. In my free time, I love to draw and paint, listen to music, or dabble in some online shopping. I am so excited to be working in the Writing Center, and I hope to offer some help in your classes!
Don Scalia
My name is Adonis Scalia (they/them), but feel free to call me Don! I'm a junior majoring in Marine Biology and minoring in Creative Writing. When I graduate, I'd love to help communicate science to a larger audience using creative writing. My home state is Mississippi, and I feel deeply inspired by, and connected to, Southern culture. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and playing video games with friends. My current obsession is Super Smash Brothers Ultimate if anyone is interested in playing together (fair warning, I'm pretty good). Here's a picture of me feeding Cownose Stingrays for a summer internship! I can't wait to meet you in the Writing Center.
Ian Jensen
My name is Ian Jenson. I am pursuing a degree in English literature with a minor in history. It’s been my dream to be a teacher since I was in middle school. The classroom environment is one that I have always felt comfortable in, and I want to offer my students the same opportunities that were given to me in rural Alaska. I love spending time outdoors, listening to and playing music, and reading. My favorite books are the Lord of the Rings series by Tolkien, and TheCount of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I look forward to seeing you in the Writing Center!
Madelynne Brehmer
Hello! I'm from Fairbanks, Alaska, studying to receive both a major in Outdoor Studies and a minor in English! I love being outside, wearing yellow, summer or ice fishing, and watching old (or well-written) movies. My favorites include "Goonies," "Everything Everywhere All At Once," "Knives Out," and Disney's "Robin Hood." I enjoy all types of writing and have taken courses with analytical and creative emphases. I hope to publish my own work someday or write compelling papers for whatever career I end up in! I love tackling a good paper and strengthening the ideas of students at any stage of the writing process. I believe all ideas are worth writing an essay for, so I hope to see you in the Writing Center soon!
