First Friday at the UAS REC Center brings a night of original music with local artist Irene Muller. Accompanying the release of their first full-length album 'Victory', Irene and band members Sammy Burrous (guitar), Dale McFarlin (drums), and Simon Taylor (bass) bring you the next generation of folk music with a little blues on the side. Bring your family,  friends and dancing shoes!

Irene's music is quirky, inventive and locally grown, the product of growing up in a community of folk musicians and community organizers. As her father likes to tell it, he started singing to her the day she was born and, one day, she started singing back. Born in North Carolina, raised in Alaska and transplanted to Seattle for most of her adolescence, she draws on musical roots from across the map. Irene lives works, writes and plays in Juneau. She is also a student at the University of Alaska Southeast.

This free performance is not just for students.  The public is invited to one of Juneau’s best venues for music events, with a modern, well-lit stage, excellent sound system and comfortable seating. Photography, ceramics, jewelry and other art by UAS REC Center staff will be also featured at this final First Friday Sound and Motion event.
